Medical Emergencies for the Allied Health Professional (2 CEUs)

Vet Tech - "Colic in the Equine Patient - The Four T's" and "Biosecurity - from Home to Hospital" (2 CEUs)

Two one-hour presentations by Jamie Defazio, a 2000 graduate of Harcum's program of Veterinary Technology. She is currently the overnight supervisor at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center. Ms. DeFazio lectures in large animal veterinary technology all over the country, and also serves on the boards of the PVTA and the AAEVT and is involved with the specialty of equine veterinary nursing.

Xerostomia…Yes, quite a DRY topic! (2 CEUs)

Xerostomia, often referred to as ‘dry mouth’ is a common problem that not only impacts oral health but may dramatically affect general health and the quality of life. An understanding of normal saliva formation and function, common causes, complications, assessment and methods to treat xerostomia will provide the clinician with valuable insights. This course will also benefit the medical professional who treats patients afflicted with this condition.

Coronal Polishing and Fluoride Application for EFDA (3 CEUs)

Both topics will be presented in a formal lecture as well as through clinical video demonstrations. Coronal Polishing will include instruction on types of stain, equipment options and polishing product recommendations as well as contraindications in relation to the medically compromised patient.
Fluoride application will provide a basic understanding of different types of fluoride and their recommendations for use as well as the appropriate application techniques.
