The Harcum Bears are #1 in the Nation!

Harcum Bears Men's Team Ranked #1 in Nation - Win 24 Straight

Fans packed the gym on Tuesday, February 16^th to cheer on the Harcum Bears as they hosted Lackawanna College in NJCAA Region 19 action. Percy Woods paced six Harcum players in double figures with 15 points, and the #1 ranked Harcum College men's basketball team routed Lackawanna, 108-66. The win improves Harcum to 24-0 this season, while Lackawanna drops to 19-9. The Bears currently boast the nation's longest winning streak at 24 games.

Just hours before tip-off, the Bears claimed the #1 national ranking in the NJCAA Division I men's basketball poll. This is the first time in school history that the Bears have been ranked #1. It is also the first time that a team from Pennsylvania has held the top ranking in the NJCAA Division I poll. The Bears are the first team from NJCAA Region 19 to be ranked #1 since New Jersey’s Mercer County College in 1974.

Playing its first game with the #1 ranking before the Bears largest crowd of the season, Harcum lived up to its billing, scoring the first nine points of the game and dominating Lackawanna. Harcum shot 12-of-23 from three point range as six different Bears connected on 3's. Antonio Bumpus shot 5-of-7 for 14 points, and Jeremiah Bowman added 13 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Stuart Clarke, Andre Paulk, and C.J. Scott scored 13, 11, and 10, respectively. Harcum opened up leads of 39-17 and 59-25 at the half.

The Bears have four more games left in the regular season, and travel next to West Windsor, New Jersey on Thursday, February 18th to play Mercer County College in a game originally scheduled for February 6th. The Bears then travel to Monroe College in New York City on Saturday, February 20, host Williamson College on Wednesday, February 24^th, and will end their season at home against Rise Academy on Monday, March 1^st.
